Can I take Ribena on a plane?

I'm taking about in the checked-in luggage, not the carry-on luggage. And I mean the undiluted Ribena cordial, which comes in a plastic bottle. I know you can take drinks, such as alcohol, in your checked-in luggage, but I ask because we have a spare bottle at home and I want to take it away with me. Mum seems to think it will burst open, Dad, on the other hand, seems to think it will be okay as it is a syrup and wont expand...who's right here? Will my clothes be stained red when I land, or will they be perfectly fine?
