What can i do to recover from a very heavy period?

ive had a massive heavy period unusuall for me,,under the doc and waiting for tests and scans etc,,so no advice needed there but i need advice on how to get well. im exhaused and feel sick with the weakness,,ive been to the chemist to buy a tonic and im upping my fluids and resting as much as is possible with 2 kids. is there anything else i can do to feel better??? ps im not pregnant :-(
